It was 7am, monday morning. The usual morning mist hung around the DNS castle, wrapping
the grounds into a thick, white silence. The sky was clear and the sun was starting to rise
from behind the mountains around, however the mist made both impossible to see. As mondays are
the off-days for everyone, both staff and horses, there wasn't a soul around at this time.
Well, almost ...

...

"No, silly, the other leg." The colt raised his leg as she asked, but it was not the right leg.
He understood he needed to raise his leg after barely 10 minutes, but he didn't yet
grasp the concept of having to raise the exact same one as Evy. "No, look at me. THIS leg. Not that
one. Ugh. Look." She lifted hers to set an example, before moving towards him and touching
his left front, showing him again what she wanted by raising it. She then moved away, and asked
again, raising her left leg. This time he got it right. Finally. "Good job!" She instantly petted
him to reward his understanding. "I wonder ..." She lifted her right leg then, and to her surprise
the colt managed - he raised his right front. "Awwww you, great job! This is exactly what
I wanted from you!" She tested him again then, by raising her left leg. He delivered. "Good, good."
Again the right one. And the left one. And the left one again. The colt figured it out perfectly.
"Good job boy!" She petted him and rewarded his hard work with a sugar cube. This was what she
had set out to do today, and there wasn't a reason to keep working further, she would only
risk the colt becoming bored. It was better to end it now when it was all good. "How about we call
it a day, huh?" She petted the colt again. She was insanely pleased. Avenger would so far follow
her around, bow on command, walk and trot in circles around her and now lift his legs accordingly
with her. He was always focused and had a generally positive attitude towards work and learning,
he is however the sort of character that can remember negative things - that is the trait that
helped Evy pick his name in the first place. Evy gestured with her hand for him to follow, and
set off into the direction to the stable, the colt faithfully walking behind her. She knew she had
his trust right now, but she also knew it won't ever be granted with him.
