title refers to the time in the picture, which is late afternoon and to the fact Evy is always kind of late ... but mostly to the fact that it took me AGES to draw this beautiful girl. If you don`t recognize her it`s Dane`s Paris, who I bought from *AgerskovArt quite a long time ago. And here she is, finally drawn after all the time.


Oh, the mare`s head markings werent completely visible on the only picture I found of her so I figured I could re-design them a bit according to the sire`s and dam`s markings. Hope you don`t mind, Dane. :meow:


Anyways, on to the story. Warning - it`s kind of long but contains nothing of real importance. Feel free to skip it. I guess I was just in the mood for writing.

Coming up is her and Capitol`s reference sheets. Not sure how quickly they`ll be on though.

It was about 6.30 in the evening. Evy was walking over the mare stable with a brown tack box in her hands. She stopped about half-way through the stable corridor and placed the box down next to a stall with a black horse`s head already excitedly sticking out.

"Well hey there mrs. Curiosity!" said Evy smiling. She took a brush out of the box, opened the stall and stepped in only to be ambushed by the black mare`s muzzle, already searching her pockets for sugar and treats. "No treats mate, you haven`t done anything yet. After training, I promise." Evy petted the mare`s muzzle with a smile before pushing the head away and moving on to start brushing. The mare turned away with an almost apparent grudge and refused to look at Evy again. Evy finished and went to the box to switch the brush with a hoof-pick. She returned and asked for one of the front legs to be raised by petting the knee. No response. "Oh come on! I`m not going to be pulling them up." She took a hold of the leg and tried to push it back and up, but the mare didn`t move a muscle. "Geeeez mare, you obeyed this nicely yesterday." She gave it another try. Again nothing. "Fine, I`ll come back for this one later, " said Evy angrily and went on the mare`s other side, pressed the shoulder with as much force as she could before pulling the other front leg up. Once in mid-air, the mare held it there on her own. "See? It isn`t that hard, is it?" She went on to clean the hind two legs and wasn`t being too gentle about it. She then returned to the first one. "Now, I`m giving you one more try." She petted the knee. The mare lifted the leg up herself now. "There you go! Good girl!" After picking the hoof, she stood up and opened a zip on one of her pocket. She could literally see the mare`s ears twitch in her direction. Yep you heard right, little monster." Evy took a sugar cube out of the pocket and held it in an extended hand, showing it to the mare. Finally the horse decided the grudge was no longer necessary and turned her head around, taking the sugar off of Evy`s hand happily. "There you go, behave now while I go and get your stuff." Evy went out of the stall, closed the door behind her and walked slowly to the tack room. Once there, she took a pretty much new tack set and went back to the mare, leaving the bridle on the little rack on the stall door and entering just with the saddle in her hands. "Now what`s this huh, monster? You`ve seen this before, haven`t you. Just a saddle, nothing new." She placed it gently on the mare`s back, who didn`t even twitch. Yep, her progress in training was amazing, she handled tacking like a pro and already mastered collection and extension. Today however, Evy`s plan was to try something new ... something which this mare should be really good at. And that was jumping. Her dam had some great cross-country achievements and Evy hoped for a successful eventing or jumping career for the filly. She tightened the saddle belt before proceeding on to place the bridle on the mare`s head. She took that one like a pro as well, lowering her head and opening her mouth on the first try. "Behaving better, are we?" Evy said and petted the mare with a smile. She took the reins in one hand, opened the stall door wide open and led the mare outside the stable.

She mounted up and led the mare to the outside jumping arena in a walk. The mare obviously knew where they are going and Evy almost didn`t have to use the reins. She let them go, reaching into her pockets to dig out her iPod and a set of earphoes. It took her a while before she untangled them and by then the mare was already in the arena. Once in there, Evy quickly put the earphones into her ears, and pushed the mare forward to a trot. A few minutes and circles later she slowed her down into a walk, turned on some music on her iPod ([link]) and pushed the mare into canter. She didn`t plan to work on anything much today, it was getting late, she was tired and monster was already up for a higher level of training anyway. After cantering around the arena she discovered a small cross jump in one of the corners and a single rail on the ground in the other. "Well could this get any better?" she was happy to have found exactly what she needed. She slowed the mare down to a walk, going over the single rail a few times. She tried it in trot a few times as well, the mare went over it every time, her ears pointing forward and not even a sign of fear. Evy turned her to the cross then, which was small enough to be stepped over in trot and big enough to be jumped over in canter. The mare gave it a look but stepped over it like if this was her thousandth time trotting over a cross-rail jump in her life. "Well that was kind of easy ... " Evy said and leaned down to pet the mare. Not all of her horses took jumping this easily the first time. Evy gave the mare a few minutes of slow walk to rest, then pushed her into canter, leading her to the cross again. She watched the stride carefully, bringing the mare spot on to the little cross and the mare didn`t even think twice, she just jumped. Not too high, not too low, just perfect for the jump height. The mare had a great take-off power, Evy could feel it and after landing on the other side she went down and hugged the mare enthusiastically. "You are the best little monster ever!" She jumped the cross a few more times before cooling the mare down and returning to the stable. She emptied the (sweet) contents of her pockets into the mare`s mouth there before heading to bed with awesome plans for the next day, all evolving around DNS Dane`s Paris, the mare she just ended training with and more jumping.
