Description

I know what you're all thinking!
Evy! First you write a journal saying you can't draw to save your life, then a few hours
later you upload a .. drawing? (Yeah, let's call it a drawing because it's not exactly a masterpiece). Just make up your mind, woman! XD

Let me explain what happened. I was chatting with dearest abosz007, when he told me this neat
little tip about using a sketch instead of a lineart. (If you read my last journal, you know that's where I get stuck).
So I did this as a little test-run to see if the thing works, and even though this is a rough sketch it looks rather okay.
Definitely a lot worse than my actual art, that has, you know, lines and stuff and cell-shading but I guess this style
will do for a while ... for the story-art or stable stuff, definitely. :D
Show entries however (if I ever get to them) will be done the old way - the decent one LOL XD

So yush, good news, this! Maybe there will be a little art from me :meow: We'll see. I promise nothing.
And yes it was time for poor boy Capitol to get a picture at DNS.

This year's winter was rather easy on DNS, despite the danger warnings earlier on. There was a little snow,
there was a little rain, and there was also a bit of sun. On one such evening, Evy volunteered to help Colin with Don Capitol.
The stallion settled in rather nicely, and even won a dressage event the previous season, but Colin felt like their groundwork
started falling apart, and wasn't quite sure how to go about fixing it. If he wanted to jump the stallion in the upcoming season,
their problems will have to be worked out.

"Ease up on the rein! Stop correcting him all the time." Evy said, watching the pair as they were trotting around her.

"But he immediately jumps out of frame if I stop..." Colin complained, pulling on the reins and bringing the grey stallion
to a halt next to Evy.

"That's because you never stop fiddling with his mouth, and he's gotten used to it. The point is to correct the horse to
get into the frame you want, then give him PEACE. If he breaks the frame after, correct him again but then stop.
You kept pestering him even after he got where you wanted him to, so he learned that even if he does what you want, you won't
stop bugging him. He didn't associate the correct frame with comfort. Do you understand?"

"But if I stop, he breaks the fra- ..."

"YES. Because you've taught him that. Just try and do less on the rein, or if need be, give strong corrections but then leave him.
Don't release contact though. Try again."

The boy pushed the stallion forward into trot again, and got him into frame easily. Yet the stallion's head shot up as soon as
he stopped playing with the inside rein.

"Use the outside rein more, you're barely holding it," Evy instructed.

Trying again, Colin managed to get the stallion to settle on the outside rein, in a somewhat decent frame.

"That's better, that's much better. You two probably wouldn't win a dressage event like this but it looks much better
than that constant fiddling of yours. Try the same in canter now."

The boy nodded, and pushed his outside leg back, but as soon as the stallion jumped into canter, all the hard work was
gone. He lifted his head up and started galloping all over the place.

"No, no, not good. STOP. Come here." Evy walked over to the pair, and they met half way.

"I have no idea what just happened," Colin said, sounding slightly defeated.

"Neither do I. That's why you'll let me take him for a spin while you rest for a minute, okay?"

He dismounted without a second thought, and gave the reins to Evy. She pulled herself up in the saddle and pushed
the stallion forward, walking one circle before urging him to trot. After a few minutes, the stallion calmed down into a good frame,
and relaxed, pointing his ears forward for the first time.

"You see? Just give him his space, let him do his job. Show him what you want then leave him be."

She pushed the stallion forward into canter then, and just like the previous time, he fell apart. She stopped him,
gave him a gentle pat to calm him down, and tried again. And again. And again. Until finally, the stallion transitioned
from trot to canter without loosing his collection. Evy felt him relax, extend downward, his head following his knees.

"There. This is what you want," she said to Colin, as they passed by his side. "Just leave the inside rein alone, and you
two are going to be fine."

She brought the stallion to a halt, and jumped off. "Your turn again."

i love how you make the tack on the horse look like it actually belongs on the horse... I find that the hardest part and you got it spot on!
